FIRST CAR!
My employers have finally gotten a car. Its a shiny black ford. They bought it for $800, that is a lot of money! What a contraption! Its has all these buttons and a wheel. It goes quite fast as well. I think Mr.Demarco said it went 45 miles an hour. Imagine that... how fast he can get to another town without taking the train or going by boat. I am quite excited to sneak itno the car and sit down, of course i would not try to drive it as i do not think it would end well. I have to go make dinner, but until next time! Goodbye!

Reaction to the First telegram in the City
I cannot believe this magic telegram. Information can go such long distances so quickly! This must be a truly ingenius invention! I am so excited, technology is enhancing to no end and the Demarcos always have the newest technologies. I feel much better that now as a country we can know what is going on in other places faster, my husband will be excited to hear of this new technology finally reaching us.

Reaction to the Erie Canal
At work today I heard Mr.Demarco (my employer) talking about a new "canal", called the Erie Canal. I don't know what a Canal is but Mr.Demarco said it would create a lot of jobs and allow for more places passed the Great Lakes to recieve goods from over here in the city. He also said that he will be able to get different supplies and foods from the west. Its all pretty exciting, I am looking forward to what he might be ordering from the west. I dont think the New Canal will effect Gabriel's (my husband) job as a laborer in the factories much, but maybe it will allow for him to get paid more, with more things to be made so they can be shipped to the west. Well maybe we will find out more later on this "Canal".
